Hello there! My name is Deb DeArmond and I'm the FACS teacher at Esko School. I love teaching FACS because the topics we cover in class are important in everyday life, I help students discover new interests they have which can lead them towards a fulfilling future career and we get to have a lot of fun in class! I like that I teach Middle School and High School because each grade level brings a different energy into my classroom and that I am able to see students grow and change over their years here at Esko.
My favorite topics to teach are Interior Design and Child Development. Interior Design is a useful skill that everyone can practice and use, and Child Development is not only relevant for most people throughout their lives, but a first step in many careers. Teaching Culinary skills is also one of my 'look forward to' times of every school day, I was the General Manager of the Olive Garden in Duluth for 8 years and I love to share my experience and expertise in this area with students. Plus, everyone loves to eat!
I have 2 kids of my own; Ethan and Hattie, and a Golden Doodle named Nelly. We live in Duluth and love to take advantage of living in such a beautiful part of the world by getting outside as much as possible! I am very grateful to have a lot of time in the summer to spend with them going on adventures, trying new things and going new places. If I could have any other job it would be Interior Designing, I love making spaces beautiful and match the users personality and lifestyle. I have have helped many family members and friends decorate their homes and it brings me joy to see them love their spaces.
