Early Childhood/School Readiness Teacher

 Esko Community Education is accepting applications for a part-time (up to 22 hrs/week @ $23/hour) preschool teacher. Applicants must hold a current MN teaching license in Early Childhood Education.

General Description:

The primary role of the Early Childhood Teacher is to plan and implement child learning activities during the school readiness class time and to work with district representatives on aligning curriculum to enhance kindergarten readiness for all children attending the program.

 Education/Licensure Needed:

                Current B.A or B.A. in Minnesota’s Early Childhood Education. Minnesota licensure required.

 Job Qualifications:

  • Successful experience teaching preschool children and working with their families.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of early childhood development, family dynamics and current family issues.
  • Must possess knowledge of community resources and the ability to successfully interact with parents and children
  • Infant and child CPR certified.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data privacy according to district policy.
  • Fulfill missions, goals, and philosophies of Early Childhood programs.

 Job Duties:

60 % of time; approximately 15 hours per week

  • Responsible for team curriculum development input with other parent and child educators.Submit a copy of session curriculum plan to coordinator.
  • Set up a learning environment conducive to developmentally appropriate practice.Prepare and implement parent/child curriculum and children alone activities.
  • Include open-ended learning experiences (centers) that incorporate the following: dramatic play, concepts, science, language development, fine motor skills, sensory, self-help, problem solving, critical thinking, music, group activities, cooperative activities.
  • Gear the program to meet the needs of the child in accordance with the overall program policies and philosophies.
  • Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Develop a routine for children to follow.
  • Take time to personally know each child.
  • Be sensitive to each child’s individual separation process and follow program philosophy on separating.
  • Be aware and alert to each child’s safety.

     Oversee Education assistant and/or student helpers in your classroom and delegate duties.

  • Call coordinator at home if you are unable to work due to illness providing ample time for coordinator to get a sub.
  • Follow posted discipline policy procedures.  Record discipline and consequences.
  • Responsible for daily room and activity prep, clean-up and communicating those needs to the assistant.
  • Plan and implement field trips as assigned.

 30 % of time; approximately 7 hours per week

  • Assist in outreach and public relations activities as needed.
  • Responsible for attending and working at designated family events, community event and fundraisers.
  • Responsible for attending scheduled staff meetings during the year.

    Assist in long-range planning for the total program including ordering classroom supplies and materials.

  • Keep coordinator update on interesting/valuable program items/ideas to expand existing classroom materials or lending libraries.

  • Record work time on payroll sheets and submit when due according to Community Education guidelines.
  •  Make referrals, as necessary, to program coordinator for special assistance or community resource information.
  • Participate in Pre K- grade 3 committee to enhance cohesion through the early elementary years.
  • Attend trainings and participate in county programs as asked by coordinator.

10% of time; approximately 2 hours per week

  • Help set up and take down room at beginning and end of year.
  • Submit article to Esko Corner on activities in the SR room 5 times per year.
  • Help maintain information about SR on the community education website pages by submitting it to the coordinator.
  • Meet with parents individually as needed and hold fall and spring parent conferences with evening meeting times available to parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisor:                ECFE/SR Coordinator

Working Environment:  Work is typically performed in a temperature controlled, inside environment

Physical Requirement:   There may be some lifting and moving of materials or equipment and lifting & holding children, typically < 50 pounds; ability to walk and stand up to 8 hours daily.

Community Education Administrative Assistant

 Esko Community Education is accepting applications for a part-time (21 hrs/week @ $14.13/hour) administrative assistant. Applicants must have a high school diploma. An A/A in clerical or administrative assistant work experience preferred.

General Description:
Works closely with the Community Education Director to manage reservation and scheduling of school facilities, coordinate the registration and payment process for community education classes, and be the point of contact for the public handling both walk in customers and phone calls. Work on the community education website to keep information timely and pertinent. Order supplies for management of office and maintain supply budget for the general community education department. Supervise the operations of the Copy Center and order supplies for the center in addition to communicating maintenance issues. Design and work with Director to publish Esko’s Corner paper 10 times per year.
  

Education/Licensure Needed:  High School Graduate. A/A in clerical or administrative work preferred.

Job Qualifications:

Excellent operating knowledge of Microsoft Office including word, publisher and excel.  In addition, knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Rschool class registration and facility scheduler, Adobe Indesign, and web site maintenance. Excellent communication and customer service skills; Experience with graphic design and layout. Develop rapport and use good communication skills with customers. Observe confidentiality. Promote a positive team spirit in support of all community education programs, district events, classes and school district staff. Follow district policy in all job duties.

Job Duties:

70% of time; approximately 14 hours per week.

  • Collaborate with school staff and community members to gather information for Esko’s corner publication

  • Handle layout and design of the paper and work with proof editor to ensure accuracy.

  • Coordinate Community Education Registration and billing process

  • Place all classes on Rschool class registration program

  • Prepare teacher packets for each general community education class

  • Communicate with coordinators on class rosters for school readiness and ECFE

  • Notify Winterquist elementary teachers of after school club participants for every club

  • Support and encourage proper registration procedures

  • Prepare and send outstanding balance statements monthly.

  • Work closely with Director to manage delinquent bills and refer to the Director any accounts that should be sent to collections

  • Manage Reservation of School Facilities

  • Reserve space on Rschool facility schedule as requested and work with CE and Activities Directors to manage the space as school policy dictates

  • Handle requests for postings on electronic sign

  • Follow policy regarding postings on electronic sign

  • Post new requests on the electronic sign weekly

10% of time; approximately 2.5 hours per week

  • Design and produce publications: brochures, pamphlets, and fliers.

  • Prepare materials for community events to include signs, sign-up sheets, and promotional materials

  • Work with preschool screening to mail out letters, make screening packets, and schedule youth for screening

  • Prepare and design Community Education related materials for the district website

  • Download, optimize, and organize digital photos for all community education programs for use in Esko’s corner

10%of time; approximately 2.5 hours per week

  • Weekly deposit of funds

  • Record work time on payroll sheets and turn in to coordinator according to community education procedures

  • Supervise After school club supervisor Student workers as needed

  • Monitor supplies for the office and order as needed with Director approval

  • Work closely with the Director to maintain the supply budget of general Community education

  • Attend trainings as requested and agreed upon with Director

10%of time; approximately 2.5 hours per week

  • Ensure efficient operation of the Copy Center

  • Order supplies as needed

  • Request maintenance as needed

  • Communicate with Principals, Staff and Superintendent as necessary regarding the copy center issues

  • Participate in special events offered by community education: National Night Out and Santa’s Workshop

  • Other duties as assigned.

Community Education - Part-time Program Assistant in Esko Cool Kids
School Age Care Program

This 20-28 hour per week position is open immediately. Summer shift is predominantly 1:00-6:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. School year hours vary. No weekends. $12.01/hour.  Position open until filled.
